Bake & Decorate Holiday Sugar Cookies

Making and decorating holiday cookies is always a successful, fun and engaging activity for you and your children to do! You only need a few simple ingredients to make sugar cookies: 1 cup of butter, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 2 teaspoons baking powder and 2 ¾ cups of flour. Measuring out the ingredients is a great way for your children to learn about math! Mix all the ingredients together. Roll them out using a rolling pin and cut out shapes using holiday cookie cutters. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-10 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool. Now the fun part begins! Decorating the cookies! This is where you can allow your child to get creative. Provide your child with icing, candies, sprinkles and anything else you think they would love to decorate their cookies with! This fun holiday activity is educational and will make everyone excited for the holidays!

See Holiday Lights

Many homes and public places are decorated with lights during the holiday season. Before bed time, go for a drive with your kids around your city/town and see all the different holiday lights and decorations. You can all do this in your pajamas for an extra comfy experience! You children will love seeing all the decorations and lights. This is a very simple and beautiful outing to enjoy together!

Crafts!

There are so many easy holiday crafts that your children can make this holiday season. Cut out snowflakes using a white piece of paper and scissors. Make tree ornaments using materials you find around the house. Create your own menorah out of paper or recycled materials. This is a great way for your kids to use their creativity and make personalized decorations for your home!

Enjoy the outdoors

There is so much to do and see outdoors in the winter! Bundle up and go for a walk in your nearby park. This is a great opportunity for you to teach your kids about winter. Ask them what they see and hear and what changes are happening. While you are enjoying the outdoors, you can build a snowman or snow fort together!
